A leading fine art & infrared photographer, Laurie Klein is also an author and educator. As a former pupil of Ansel Adams, her soft, passionate style depicts the feminine experience, relationships, and landscapes with a mystical feel.
Anything You’d Like To Say About David As A Person?
SO many of us can learn volumes from David’s creative process and his imagery. Everything is intentional, with meaning, spirit, and story. He has learned from the masters and then makes it his own. The brilliance in that depicts a true creative soul and an amazing artist.
Anything You’d Like To Say About David As A Person?
David is an INSPIRER. Recently I had the pleasure of spending time with David in London. I witness how he touches others and of course, inspires them on so many levels. It goes deeper than words; he is soft-spoken with so much passion and appreciation. I have seen others transform with confidence and AHA moments as he is talking with them about photography, artwork, and life. He is a gift to so many people.
David’s thoughts on Laurie
Have a conversation with Laurie, and you’ll walk away thinking what a grand time you just had.
She’s quiet, full of wisdom, knowledge and a bit quirky. She carries herself in a way that tells you that while she’s both strong and self-confident, she’s also looking to explore. There is an incredible spirit of adventure around her.
Within our industry, I think of her as someone who is trying to shake the way other photographers think a little bit. We share a love for black and white photography, although she takes it a step further with her excellent infrared work. It’s full of the most interesting angles, perspectives, and shapes.
Laurie is simply someone you look forward to the next time you get to spend time with her.
Why Laurie Klein Is A Master Photographer
After 41 years in the industry, the list of accolades that follow Laurie is quite remarkable along with her work held in museums and private collections. No doubt her mentor felt strongly about her approach to photography.
Laurie’s style is unique, combining a fantastic ability for composition and sensitivity to her subjects that will carry her to the top of her field. I can’t teach the way she sees and feels.
Along with her infrared photography, she’s known for her fine art photography as well as authoring multiple books on the subjects. Starting with Hand Coloring Black & White Photography: An Introduction and Step-by-Step Guide, her most recent publications are Photographing The Female Form With Digital Infrared, and Infrared Photography: Artistic Techniques For Brilliant Images.
