Arthur’s Thoughts On The Art1095 Project
David’s imagery is a delicate dance of all the synchronicities and intrigues present in the works of 17th-century grand masters of color and light. His beguiling sense of place honors his subjects. And his mellow crafting of a harmonious whole offers the viewer a glimpse of time stands still.
Arthur’s Thoughts On David
Few photographers do…the work. Few study the great masters. Few create combining the inspiration with a special sense of wonder. Few take their imagery to the level of high art. Few look within to bring their very soul to bear on their most personal of work. But… David does. He stands alone as the shining example of all that is right with our noble profession… offering the world an understanding of what a true professional portrait artist creates.
David’s Thoughts On Arthur
I guess it was about 10 years ago, that I first got to meet Arthur. Of course, I had heard about him for years and his remarkable ability to work in light and shadow. I can vividly remember having dinner with him in Oklahoma and of course, the impact our conversations had on me.
I have an appreciation for the multiple generations of photographers in his family and his love for his father. He places a huge emphasis on telling an emotional story that will connect with the next generation.
His extraordinary expertise is why I wanted to take classes and learn from him which became a life-changing moment for me.
He understands in a unique way how we value photography yesterday, today and will tomorrow.
Why Arthur Levi Rainville Is A Master Photographer
Anyone described as “the Poet Laureate of Photography, one of the most sensitive artists of our time” will grab your attention. It’s the endless series of stunning photographs, wrapped in the atmosphere, intrigue, and romanticism over 50 years displayed in grand museums around the world that cement his standing. His quixotic style couples light with graceful composition and a sense of intimacy with his subjects. The French Cultural Center describes his work as “a synthesis of observation and imagination blended with a palette of gauzy colors.”
Listen to his 34-min podcast discussion with Skip Cohen and the Sprouting Photography Podcast to hear his ideas on photography in the modern marketplace. As he says during the interview, “a picture is of someone, but a portrait is about someone.”
For the past 40+ years, his message inspires photographers not only to look at the Art & Technical sides of photography but the Heart. Professional Photographers of America (PPA) recognizes him as a Master of Photography, Photographic Craftsman, Certified Professional Photographer and Approved Photographic Instructor.
